The baby in the manger and a man on a cross are easy to recognize, but they are only images of Jesus. The one who is in the monstrance is not an image. It is not a representation. It is HIM! - His true presence, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity!
During Adoration you are with Him no less than Peter, James and John were in the garden. Like Peter, James and John, the more time you spend with Him, the more He will open your eyes and your heart to the reality of His love, deepening your love for Him and for others. He gives you the courage to cope with your natural fears, the power to undergo difficult trials and the ability to undertake great things for the sake of His name.
This is a great video explaining Eucharistic adoration from a Catholic mother of five.
This is a video of short testimonies of why people attend Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Fr. Josh Johnson explains what adoration is and what we should
be doing.
“I have a burning thirst to be honored by me
in the Blessed Sacrament.”
“During a Holy Hour our love for Jesus
becomes more intimate, our love for each other
more understanding, and our love for the poor
more compassionate.”
“The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love.
Let us be generous with our
time in going to meet Him in adoration”
“Do you realize that Jesus is there in the Blessed Sacrament expressly for you, for you alone! He burns with the desire
to come into your heart!”
“Our Lord is hidden there in the Blessed
Sacrament, waiting for us to come and visit Him, and make our requests to Him.”
“A holy hour will give you more strength during life and more consolation at the hour of death and eternity.”
